So today is the 29th February and for some reason I have been looking forward to this day for a really long time. I guess it's the idea that it only comes around once every four years, and even though I know why this is, it fascinates me. I like the idea that someone being born on this day could, in real terms, be 40 but in one sense only be ten years old. It is just a day that I really like the idea of and so couldn't resist but dedicate a blog post to it. There is no holiday on this day and nothing to remember today, of which I can think of but the main reason I like it is because it's a free day, a gift almost. Or at least this is how I like to think of it because it's so cute. I know that today will not get much recognition from the ordinary person but if anybody is reading this then please feel free to comment how you're spending your free day.
Thank you for reading :)

Review: 88 eyeshadow palette
As many of you will know, eyeshadows are beauty essentials. They are possibly the most commonly used makeup product and can create a look all on their own.
So when buying eyeshadows, it is very tricky as they are sold everywhere and it is difficult to know which ones to buy.
This is my 88 eyeshadow palette. It does not have a brand, the casing is completely black with nothing on it. You can buy these really cheaply on the internet on various websites such as eBay. I think this is a great set of eyeshadows to start off with because they are very cheap, there are so many colours, that it can cater for almost all looks, including matte and shimmery colours. It is probably not best if you want something that you can easily travel around with as it is so big but it's very helpful for cute looks that you want to do at home.
This palette is so great for those of you who are looking to buy nice beauty products on a budget! But if you have the money to splurge you'll probably be looking for palettes such as the Urban Decay Naked/ Naked 2 palette or some of the Too Faced eyeshadow palettes, as mentioned in a previous post.
I think eyeshadows is one of the few makeup products that it is okay to buy cheaply because as long as its pretty pigmented and blendable, you can create as many looks as you want. If you want your eyeshadow to stay on for a long time, that really depends on what primer you use and not so much the staying power of the eyeshadow you use.

The browns and goldeny colours of this palette are my favourite, mainly because i think it's nice to go for some more subtle, natural looks and I have to say for the price of this product, the eyeshadows really are very nice.
All of these colours are pretty pigmented, I did debate swatching them but I don't think I have enough space on my arm for 88 different colours :P
I hope this has been helpful,
Thank you :)

The natural look :)
So for this Summer, i am hoping to go for a lot of natural makeup looks.
This is my favourite natural eye look. I found it on the internet and I thought it was so beautiful! To achieve this look you will need some brown shimmery colours all over the lid, a favourite black eyeliner pencil of yours to tight line your eyes. This makes it look as if you are wearing no eyeliner yet still making a visible impact which is perfect for the natural look you are going for. As you can see, this person has used a beautiful light brown eyeliner to line her waterline. It may just be the lighting but I think that is what she has done and I would do also when doing this look. Her eyelashes look long but not overdone so as to look fake. I would recommend the Maybelline "full and soft" mascara to achieve this looks because it gives you a very natural appearance however my personal favourite mascara is L'oreal's False Lash telescopic mascara. It does give a sort of false appearance (in a good way) but when applied lightly can look fairly natural.
This person has clearly highlighted the inner corner of their eye and also the brow bone with a light shimmery colour.
I have not purchased either of these products but I think they would be really great for achieving this natural look or any other natural looks (or just any looks, really) in the future:
Too faced Naked eye palette |
Urban Decay Naked palette |
I think both of these palettes would be perfect for this look. Also, I know that the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette is now out which would also work very well for this look. Like I said, I do not own either of these products but am hoping to buy one of them very soon. If any of you have either of these products or any brown eyeshadow palettes please leave a comment saying what you like or dislike about them and if you think they are worth purchasing because I would really love to know :)
I hope this has been helpful,
Thank you :)

Foundation
Recently, I have been really trying to stop using foundation because I am young and I have been trying to persuade myself that I do not need it but when you first stop using it, you do become a little self conscious. And I did at first but the results really have started to show through, and I honestly do think that it will be a lot better for my skin, not to wear foundation. Also, as Spring Summer are just coming round the corner, your face does look naturally glory and pretty from the sunlight that I might consider not wearing foundation throughout these seasons.
Luckily I haven't given up on concealer (I think that would be impossible for me, with very dark under eyes. At the moment my favourite concealer is the Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection concealer in 02- light. I heard a lot of YouTube makeup gurus raving about this and I had to try it out for myself. I like how it covers really well as it has a very thick consistency. I'm not too sure about it lasting 16 hours, like it says in the packaging but it does last a pretty long time.
The reason I am mentioning both foundation and concealer in the same post is because I wanted to ask you guys- if there is anyone reading this- what your favourite foundations and concealers are? Because by September, I will definitely need to buy a foundation (if I haven't given up on not using fountains by then). And I always like to try out new concealers because I have awful bags!
Thank you :)

New makeup products arrivals
So I am sure that many of you will have heard of the Maybelline Bouncy blushes, Maybelline colour tattoos and the Revlon lip butters. They have been hugely talked about all over Youtube and people have really been loving them. Unfortunately if you are like me and live in the UK, you will be just waiting for them to arrive here. I seriously cannot wait for them to arrive and am so jealous when watching reviews about them on Youtube by those lucky enough to have tried them out.
If anybody knows when any of these products are coming to the UK, PLEASE let me know by commenting. Maybe I am being quite naive and actually everybody knows when they are arriving but I would really appreciate it if somebody could tell me if they have any idea.
Thank you :)

Valentine's Day and Quotes
Valentine's Day- A day aimed at making couples even happier yet for most of the world, it's the most depressing day of the year.
I hope all the single people out there aren't too depressed today :P but here are some quotes to still give you hope:
"Come live in my heart and pay no rent"
- Samuel Lover
"Love is when you meet someone who tells you something new about yourself"
- Andre Breton
"Love is a game that two can play and both win"
- Eva Gabor
"If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day so I never have to live without you"
- A.A. Milne
"Love is but the discovery of ourselves in others, and the delight in the recognition"
- Alexander Smith
"We're all a little weird. And life is a little weird. And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall into mutually satisfying weirdness- and call it love- true love"
- Robert Fulghum
"The most important things are the hardest to say, because words diminish them"
- Stephen King
"Love is missing someone whenever you're apart, but somehow feeling warm inside because you're close in hear"
- Kay Knudsen
"Love is an irresistible desire to be irresistibly desired"
-Robert frost
I hope you have all had a great Valentine's Day
Thank you :)

Fashion 2012
I realised that most of my posts have been about makeup or just random everyday things and so I wanted to do a fashion post as I haven't already done so.
So these are just some ideas and pieces that I have liked in 2012. Obviously there will be people who don't like some of these because we all have different opinions but these are just mine:
I really like baggy cardigans with tight-ish tops underneath so that it shows off your figure but still keeping in trend of the baggy, sort of relaxed style that is very in at the moment. I love the cardigans that have been selling in topshop recently, they are all so soft and nice, this is the one I have and is my favourite:
Along with the topshop theme, I really like their supersoft jeans. I think that it is such a good idea to have comfortable yet still flattering jeans that are not jeggings. My favourite ones are the MOTO rose supersoft skinny jeans because they are such a pretty pale pink colour that is absolutely perfect for the spring time and is just something colourful and pretty to wear with simple, pale tops. I think it's also good because so many outfits are mainly dominated by the tops you wear so it's nice to attract a bit more attention to the legs:
You can buy these jeans on the topshop website: www.topshop.com/
But unfortunately the cardigan is now out of stock.
One of the main things I have been loving in the last couple of months are statement jewellery. It is so handy to have some statement pieces because it enables you to wear more simple clothing, so you do not have to think as much when you are deciding what to wear. This also means that you can wear the simple clothing more as opposed to statement clothing that you could only get away with wearing every couple of months. If you were to wear patterned clothing it would draw the attention away from the statement jewellery and could look it bit like a big mess so sticking to simple clothing is the easiest way in this case.
I hope this has been helpful,
Thank you :)

My 5 Beauty Pet Peeves
Hi everyone!
So I haven't posted anything for about a week as I have been very busy and I thought this would be a good topic to get me back into blogging.
1. So my first pet peeve is foundation lines. I am sure many of you have seen girls with a thick brown or orange line on their jaw bone and it is one of the most irritating things. Especially when you can see their practically white skin on their neck, the comparison really is insane. If you have the time to apply the foundation on your face, you have the time to rub it into your neck and around your ears.
2. My second pet peeve are raccoon eyes! For those of you who don't know what these are, raccoon eyes are when people draw thick black eyeliner around their eyes (making themselves look like raccoons). I honestly do not know why people do this because it is far from attractive. A more subtle eyeliner is always best. I like applying it on my upper lash line (also known as invisible eyeliner) because it looks really natural and I think it would look nice on all eyes.
3. My next pet peeve is when I see people applying they foundation with their hands or a very dirty sponge. I think it's okay to apply a bit of your foundation with your hands, maybe to cover blemishes, but when it is to apply it to your whole face, it really makes me cringe. Obviously it has nothing to with me, how other people apply their foundation, but in my opinion it is pretty unsanitary to apply it with your hands because you touch so much with your hands during the day that you could really clog your pores up. I also think applying it with a sponge is pretty unsanitary unless you use a new one each day, most people don't. It might just be me, but I personally really don't like the idea of applying foundation with a sponge. Personally I think brushes are best for the application of foundation, I would recommend using a foundation or stippling brush.
4. My next pet peeve is when people borrow my makeup. I hate that so much! I think it is very unsanitary to share foundation and concealer and they are probably the worst products to share. I also hate sharing lipstick because i don't like the idea of it going on my lips after it has been on someone else's. But a lot of people who forget to bring makeup in ask to borrow mine and it really annoys because they wouldn't like it if the situation was the other way round and I can't see why they can't just bring their own makeup in.
5. So my final beauty pet peeve shouldn't really be a pet peeve, i guess, because I'm sure that not many people will agree with me but for some reason it really irritates me. And that is the lack of beauty-understanding (that's not a word but it's the best one I can think of to describe this). I guess I'm not one to talk because I probably don't understand a lot about makeup but that's really why I started doing this, so that I can expand my knowledge but for some reason it really annoys me when girls have no idea what they are talking about but think they know so much. Most girls I know do not even know what foundation they use, they just slap it on. I saw one of my friends applying a makeup primer, and just about every girl there was asking her what it was and then asking to use it and then talk to their friends as if they know exactly what a primer is and what they use it for (they got it wrong) when they only found out a few minutes ago. I don't know why it annoys me so much but it really does.
I'm sorry that I had a bit of an outburst there but I just sort of felt like I needed to vent :P
I'm also really sorry if any of you do any of these things but these are just my own personal opinions.
Thank you :)
