My Favourite Films

My top 5 Favourite Films:

5)  My fifth favourite film is 500 days of summer.  It’s a fairly light-hearted film but hilarious and really comforting to watch.  Zoeey Deschanel, who stars in this film, is such a comedic actress, which is apparent in New Girl (the hugely popular comedy programme).  Also starring in this film, is Joseph Gordon-Levitt who is a fine actor and a superb comedian which really shines through in this film.  I highly recommend you all watch this film; you won’t regret it!

4) My next favourite film is Something borrowed, another light-hearted film but I love it so much.  If you are fan of She’s Just Not That Into You  then you’ll love this even more.  Similarly to She’s Just Not That Into You, Ginnifer Goodwin also stars in Something Borrowed, accompanied by John Krasinski and Kate Hudson.  Yes, it is just another romcom but there’s something about this film that makes it stand out from the rest.  Just like the previously mentioned film, I highly recommend you watch this film also if you’re in the mood for a bit of a comforting film.

3) My third favourite film is Shutter Island, which is definitely not a light-hearted film (I thought I should have a bit of variation in this list) but an extremely interesting film that will have you gripped from the start.  Starring Leonardo Dicaprio, how could you resist?  I love the plot to this film which includes such a shocking twist.  Again, I really hope you choose to watch this film if you have not already.

2) My second favourite film is one that I was very nearly tempted to put as my favourite film but then eventually opted for second place, and that is Stardust.  If you have not watched this film then..well..I really have no response to that because there is no reason why you should not watch this film; it has bags and bags of humour, romance, action, magic, it’s the ideal family film.  I cannot find one complaint about this film as it is one that I will never grow tired of, no matter how old i get.  Including so many famous actors- Claire Danes, Ian McKellen, Michelle Pfeiffer, Robert De Niro and Sienna Miller - this is not a film to miss.

1) And finally, my favourite film of all time has to be Titanic.  Romeo and Juliet on the ship of dreams, who could have thought of a better storyline?  Although this is my favourite film, I have decided that I cannot watch this more than once a year as it is so emotionally demanding, I think I would go into depression if I watched it more frequently.  However, don’t let that put you off; this is a film that everyone should watch at least once in their lifetime.  Titanic is definitely a classic and since it was already set in a time much before the year it was made in, this definitely makes it timeless and will watched throughout generations to come.  Yes, this is another film starring Leonardo Dicaprio, but...what can I say, he’s shockingly good at what he does!!

I hope you all have enjoyed reading my Top 5 Favourite Films Listand I’d love it if you would comment some of your favourite films for me to check out.  Thank you and have a nice day :)

Bra strap on a hockey pitch...what?

So recently, pretty much the only posts I have written about have been makeup or fashion related.  Now, since this blog is called "A Little Bit Of Everything", i realise that I haven't really kept to those guidelines and have now decided that I should do a bit more personal/ funny stories/ real life sort of posts.
Now I wouldn't blame you if you were a bit bewildered by this title but..well, I couldn't really have thought of a better name to describe this story, so here it goes..
A couple of days ago, the school year began (in August, so unfair).  The beginning of a year always kicks off with endlessly writing your name and year on books and folders, finding out which sets you are in and being told which clubs you ought to participate in.  Unfortunately for my year, girls hockey is compulsory so I reluctantly went to the first practise, after school, yesterday.
I suppose I probably wasn't wearing the best bra for sport.  It was one of those strange fiddly ones, where every strap can be taken apart, change lengths etc.  It is pretty much a transformer bra.  When I was playing hockey (I would just like you to know that I am literally the worst person in the world at hockey, I hate it!) I felt my right bra strap begin to loosen slightly.  The back strap, which goes across my back, was coming loose as well, making the bra completely baggy and unsupportive, meaning the bra was completely and utterly useless.  Eventually, my right bra strap came undone and fell out of my t-shirt (I have reason to believe that it is still somewhere on the pitch), the bra was so baggy at this point and nearly falling off me and there were still 30 minutes left of hockey to play.  I was an uncomfortable mess, trying desperately to hold on to the last bit of fabric left on my chest.  It was complete and utter horror but I thankfully made it through without anybody noticing.

I hope you liked this post and didn't find it weird in any way.
Please leave a comment if you would like me to make more posts like this.
Thank you and have a nice day,
Tess xoxo

How to make Galaxy patterned shorts out of an old black pair of jeans!!!

Today, I pretty much devoted the majority of the day to making these galaxy shorts (I decided to make them after watching AndreasChoice's video/tutorial).  It did not take me so long because they are difficult to make, but because I am really really slow at..well everything to be honest and I like to take my time so that it is peaceful and perfect and not rushed but you guys are probs more skilled than me.
So today I'm going to teach you how to make these:

Into these:

So to start off, what you need to do is put your black jeans on and then start to mark your jeans to where you think is an appropriate length to make your shorts and then cut the shorts all the same length so that they're pretty plain and boring.  Then put the shorts back on and play around a bit to make them a bit more interesting (preferably different lengths i.e shorter at the front) ut don't go too crazy.  Top tip: Start off with them a bit too long because you can always make them shorter but you cannot add length to them.

Now once you're at this stage, go ahead and take some tweezers (or a bigger, grippy tool) to fray the end of your shorts so that they are not all boring and neat:

Keep doing that all the way round at the ends and you'll be left with a cute, frayed look:

Now onto the more arty side of things- You will need acrylic paint in blue (maybe a few different shades of blue), white and purple (or red, to make the purple).  And here is a picture of the equipment I used to make paint the shorts:
I ended up using these sponges instead btw, not the yellow
ones in the picture above

And these were the only acrylic paints I used, I just
had a huge selection in the picture above

So to start off, you want to randomly sponge on some patches of blue, but in a sort of controlled random style (if that makes sense):

And then you want to go ahead and add some purple around (not on!) the bluey parts:

Make sure to add different tones of each colour to give it more depth.  I then added a light purple on parts of the shorts to prepare it for the start dust.. stuff I was about to add:

I then went on to add some white to sort of represent the far away galaxies:

With the tip of my sponge, I then made little discs on and around the white areas I just made to sort of represent far away planets, i suppose (I don't really know the technical words):

And then using the end of my paint brush and also a cocktail sticks, i then added differently sized white dots randomly around the shorts.  Personally I think this is the most magical part of the shorts painting because it really makes the galaxy you're trying to create come alive:

So I hope you've had as much fun reading this as I did making this for you guys.  I really hope you try this out because it's so fun and creative and they look so cool!!  If you have a spair pair of black jeans or shorts and an arty sister who won't mind lending you her acrylic paints then..well it would be rude not to give this a try :P

I hope you have enjoyed and have a wonderful day:)
P.S i have really no idea what I would wear with these shorts so if you could give some suggestions in the comments below, I would really appreciate it :)

My Summer Essentials!

Just because I needed a pretty picture to resemble Summer :)
(This image is from google, I do not own)

Recently, the sun has been out more than ever before, which may explain my little absence from blogging (...sorry, i really am useless!) but really, who can stay inside, on their computer in this glorious weather??
So I just thought I may give you all a few ideas of some items to keep on hand:

My Summer Essentials:
  1. There are very few things irritating about summer but one thing that I find very discomfortable and that is the heat but when it is so hot, to the point where it’s sticky.  This is why I think it very important to have a very good deodorant at hand and I would definitely recommend Mitchum Advanced Control Anti-Perspirant & Deodorant.  This deodorant is generally used by dancers and people doing a lot of sport throughout the day and it is fantastic!
  2. An essential is a good waterproof mascara.  During a hot day, your face will tend to get quite moist and you will probably rub your face a lot, meaning your mascara will smudge so it is vital to have a good mascara that will not run.
  3. It is very important to have a good cleanser during the summer as it is so easy to get spots in the summer and it really can make your skin feel dirty so it is important to treat it to a good cleanse once a day.
  4. Something that should never leave your bag is a body butter/moisturizer- I hate seeing chalky dried out skin; not only does it look bad but it is awful for your skin and promotes premature wrinkling.  I would recommend the bodyshop body butters and Soap & Glory Body Butter.
  5. Face powder is very important for summer, because although you want that fresh, dewy look, you DO NOT want to look sweaty or oily so a light dusting of a natural face powder is a must.  I would highly recommend MAC mineralize skinfinish natural.
  6. I think that a nice cream blush is quite important in the summer. Sometimes a powder blush is just going to fall straight off your face and look sort of chalky but rubbing in a nice, smooth cream blush looks gorgeous and very natural.
  7. Lip stains are incredibly helpful all year round but could not go amiss in this list.  They are so long lasting, hence “stain”, even after you eat!!  That said, they are also a 2 in 1 as they can act as a blush/highlighter and do a fantastic, stunning job at this, lasting all day.  I would recommend the new Revlon Just Bitten Lipstain + Balm.
  8. Neutral eyeshadows are SO important in the summer.  You really want to get that natural, romantic look and definitely DO NOT over do your makeup with any thick black eyeliner!!!  That is something to certainly stay away from!!  Too faced have a gorgeous natural palette and you cannot go wrong with either Urban Decay’s Naked 1 or Naked 2 palette.  I think one or the other are essentials for the summer!!!

I hope this has been helpful, how are all of your summers going so far??

OOTD: High low skirt

Vest: Primark, Skirt: New Look, found here

Hi everyone :)
Today, I really wanted to make use of my high low shell pink skirt I seem to have neglected.  It's such a gorgeous feminine skirt and I feel so girly wearing it, with it's cute, flowing material.
Since it is quite an intricate skirt, I thought I would keep things simple with a plain white vest and then add some nice jewellery, so as not to make it look too simple.
The skirt already came with a thin gold chain/belt so to keep with the gold theme, I paired the outfit with a gold ring and a gold necklace as shown below:

New look, found here
Ring: Boots

To stay with the feminine look, I wanted to have my make up a rosy, neutral pink:

Make up Look using the new Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Balm Stain in Honey

Thank you for reading and have a nice day :)

Sorry my room is so messy...and mirror, so dirty..I'm ashamed of myself

Purple eye FOTD

So here are a few pictures of the purple eye make up look I did yesterday to match my gorgeous fake nails mentioned in the previous post.  I really just wanted to do something cute and sort of princess-y yet not too overpowering and this is the look I ended up with.  Purple is such a great colour to go with, when in doubt, because it goes with all skin tones, eye colours, hair colours and so on.  I really don't think you can go wrong with purple.
As it may be a tad difficult for me to describe, in detail, how you can achieve this look, I am going to send you to a youtube video (not by myself) which is so helpful and is what I used as a guideline to help me achieve this look.  So go and watch that here; it is very useful and I hope you enjoy :)

Products I used:
- Rimmel Stay Matte concealer
- Collection 2000 lasting perfection concealer
- Ecotools concealer brush
- Ecotools powder brush
- Mac skin finish natural
- Benefit bad gal liner
- Natural Collection white eyeliner
- Bourjois effet smokey eye pencil in ultra black
- Body Collection Blusher
- Mabelline intense XXL mascara
- Rimmel soft kohl eye pencil in 064 Stormy Grey

Purple Fake Nails

I have always LOVED fake nails.  I think that they are so feminine so a few days ago, I bought these gorgeous purple fake nails over eBay.  eBay is actually really great for little things like this and if you would like, you can purchase these beautiful nails here.  The nails are really great quality, great pricing and I have had a lot of fun wearing them.  Purple is a really great, girly colour and it goes with so many outfits and make up looks.  I should, shortly, be posting a "make up of the day" post to go with these nails so definitely go and check that out.

P.S I am planning on buying a new perfume soon, so if any of you have any suggestions, they would be much appreciated :)

Where have I been?.. Confidence!

I feel I need to do quite a bit of explaining for my noticeable absence recently.  Instead of going through endless excuses for why i could not post in the past...three months has it been? Wow, I really have been lazy and all I can do is apologies.  I really am sorry and will hopefully be able to make it up to you in the next few weeks as I will be incredibly bored (rather ironic, as I have been constantly busy for the past few months).  I have also been working on a few little ideas for my blog; just a few posts which I can do and to start it off-Confidence!  This is a pretty lengthy piece of writing, with nothing to do with beauty and cosmetics or clothing (which I normally post about) but I really hope you read on anyway.

So this year, for our holiday, we went to Center Parcs (haha) which was a lot better than I had anticipated actually.  I suppose I have never been considered a very confident person; a rather shy, self-conscious person actually.  This is something that bothers me a lot, because it’s really difficult to just get confidence like some (very fortunate) people who naturally have confidence.  I think when people first meet me they cast me aside as a not very talkative, maybe even quite boring person which really isn’t true.  I think I can actually be quite interesting and possibly quite funny when I get to know people and let my guard down.  The reason I am not very loud is because I don’t like to ram my personality down other’s throats.  I believe the less you reveal, the more people wonder and that has kind of been the sort of philosophy I have been trying to live my life by.  Anyway (side-tracking a little here) in the past few weeks I have felt more on show (in a good way) then ever before.  More people suddenly started to notice me, mainly in Center Parcs, and it really did give me such a confidence boost; something that I’d really been needing.  I do not want to come across as cocky because the truth is...I’ve never really...ever been noticed before in my life and that’s why I feel it’s ok to be really happy about it now.  Someone actually asked for my number a few days ago whilst swimming around, and I felt more attractive then..well..ever and I’m actually quite happy to admit that.
So, I suppose the real point of me sharing this story with you is not because I want to brag about something nice that happened to me for once but to remind you all of the inner-confidence that I am sure lies within you somewhere.  I really hope that there are people like me out there, who sometimes struggle to be the loud one in a classroom and constantly worry about what they look like because I want to remind you that you are not alone.  And one way that might help bring out some sort of confidence in you is to think about a time in your life when it was all about you.  A time when people were only looking at you for all the right reasons.  Maybe you grabbed a guys attention or you made someone proud of you or you just did something to get you noticed; just think about the happiest, most memorable time that made you feel so good about yourself: your looks, personality, everything.  I hope that maybe by thinking about this, you will try to make yourself believe that you have all reason to be confident because when you let your confident side free, people really will be drawn to you :)

The Sunshine Award

Hi everyone,
I was awarded this by Natalie from youralmostalice, definitely go check out her blog!  Thank you so much for this prize, I have never been awarded anything on blogger before so this is so exciting!

Rules:
1) Each tagged person must post seven to ten things about themselves.
2) You have to choose and tag 7 people.
3) Go to their blogs and tell them you tagged them.

9 Things About Myself:
1. I cannot live without my watch!  I honestly do not think I could go a day without knowing the time.  I don't really care for expensive watches, just a crappy digital watch is good for me (although a pretty one would be nice).
2. I probably should wear glasses all the time but I don't because I think they make me look bad :P
3. People sometimes think I'm giving them an evil stare but that's just because I squint a lot.
4. I'm constantly stuffing tactics into my mouth.
5. I go to dance with my friends even though I'm crap because I enjoy it.
6. I worry about dying alone (which is so stupid because I'm a young teenager)
7. I'm quite shy but try to talk to people I don't know and push myself out of my comfort zone a little bit to hopefully stop this.
8. I'm a bit of a perfectionist and sometimes get myself into fixed routines, but I hate the idea of having a routined lifestyle so try to break my routines as much as possible.
9. I sometimes try to be rebellious so that I will have interesting stories to tell people when I am older but every time I try to rebel, I fail miserably.

The Blogs I Award:

I hope you guys have liked reading some things about myself.  I wouldn't blame you if you thought I was a pretty retarded person :P
Thank you again to Natalie for nominating me, it made me so happy :)

Have a great day everyone,
Tess xoxo

Favourite Clothing Items

Topshop top
River Island top

Lipsy Dippy Hem skirt
New Look Mint green sheer shirt

Topshop crochet shorts

Today I just wanted to do a quick post of some of my favourite clothing items lately.  I have selected a few items that I really hope you will like and will give you a few ideas when you go shopping :)
I chose the mint green sheer shirt because I love pastels this season and mint green is probably king of the pastels so this shirt really stood out for me.  I think it would definitely complete an outfit and add a feminine touch with the softness of the colour.
The high low/ asymmetric skirt from lipsy could not go amiss in this post.  I love high low skirts and sadly have not purchased one for myself so far as I still cannot find one that has suited me but i particularly like this skirt as it is nude which will make it incredibly wearable and tone down a look that may have otherwise looked a bit too dressed up.
I love the River Island embellished top.  This look is very on trend and it saves you the trouble of having to think about which accessories would complement the look best as its complex patterns finish off the look for itself.
The topshop shirt/ top is so perfect and sweet.  I love the cute collar detailing and the sweet bow.  This also saves you any extra accessorising as it is so cute on its own.
Finally, I really love the topshop shorts, they're so cute, with one half of the shorts denim and the other with crochet detailing on.  I think it could really complete a look.  As so many of the shorts I see today are so plain and sometimes boring, I think this is really nice without being too daring to wear.

Thank you for reading and I hope this has helped :)
P.S sorry for the pretty bad placement of pictures, I'll try to place them better next time :P

Hi everyone,
I have recently reached 50 followers and I want to say thank you so much to everyone for leaving such lovely comments and being so sweet.  I love posting on blogger because everyone on here is so lovely and I have yet to come across someone who is not.  Please keep up the support and sweet comments that you leave to people on here because it makes it such a nice place to blog and that is the reason I love it so much.  You all have made it so enjoyable to blog for you and to share some of my tips and general gibber gabber with.
I am really sorry that I haven't posted in ages.  I have been so busy recently and I know that this isn't a great excuse but I have been and I am really sorry.  Fortunately though, I will have a lot more free time in one week so be sure to look out for some new posts from me by then but for now I will not have any time to post.

Thank you everyone and enjoy your day :)
